Soccer Season Begins

The Rensselaer Central Boys Soccer team played their first game of the season on Tuesday, August 14. 14 players saw action in the contest, consisting of 1 freshman, 7 sophomores, 4 juniors, and 2 seniors. They hosted Kankakee Valley, which also has a well balanced squad between the among the grade levels. The score of the contest was 6-0. Jacob Foster had 12 saves at goalie in the contest. Chandler Gull had 4 shots at the goal, Bryce Deno also had a save. Parker Balvich, Chase Klingler, and Anjel Clemente each had 2 shots at the goal. Brooks Rodibaugh and Pierce Van Houten each had 1 shot at the goal. The team looks to improve on last season's record of 4-12-2 by utilizing seniors Troy Phillips, Brandon Kruhaj, Isaac Hillan, and John Freebourn. Rounding out the junior class is defensive specialist Tanner Stone, Chase Manns, and Simeon Gastineau. Additional Sophomore players include Nathan Myers, Zach Moore, Peyton Webb, Loki Jacobson, and Matt Rodibuaugh. The team manager is freshman Xavier Fontaine.
