Fr./So. League Track at Bennington

By: Laken Johnson

Monday May 12, the youngest half of the RHS track team traveled to Bennington to compete in a ten school track meet. The weather wasn’t ideal, but the athletes pushed through and many PR’s were set throughout the day. For the boys, they came to win; freshman Garet Johnson brought home first place in both the shot put and discus, Joey Laham finished 2nd in shot put just inches behind Garet, and 3rd in the discus throw. Fr. Coleton Crisp ended with a 3rd place in javelin, Leaf Howell showed us his stuff and won 3rd in pole vault, Keegan Cook came up less than 2 seconds short of 1st place landing him a solid silver, and Todd Ensz received 3rd in the 200 meter dash. Over all the boys team took 3rd place. As for the girls, the competition may have been the toughest all year. Audria Thompson sealed a third place victory in the 200 meter dash, Mady Tanner placed 5th in javelin and 4th in the long jump, and Jayden Clark finished 5th in shot put. Overall the girls took 8th place, with numerous girls just falling short of placing. Nice job goes out to everyone, and good luck at League at Marion on Friday, May 16!!!
