Home » Track & Field NewsRedStorm men compete at OtterbeinJanuary 23, 2011 By Mark Williams of University of Rio GrandeWesterville, Ohio --- The University of Rio Grande RedStorm men's track and field squad competed at the Otterbein Invitational on Saturday and recorded a seventh place finish (out of seven teams), scoring 13 points. Sophomore sprinter Jay Butler (Cincinnati, OH) and freshman sprinter Kevin Malone (Waverly, OH) were the top finishers for the men's team as both recorded 5th place finishes in their respective events. Butler was fifth in the 55-meter dash with a time of 6.84. Malone was fifth in the 200-meter dash, posting a time of 24.33. Other scoring results for Rio Grande: freshman sprinter Travonte Wilson, 7th in the 55-meter dash (6.99) and freshman distance man Myles Corcoran scored for the third consecutive week, placing 6th in the 1-mile run. Corcoran covered the distance in 4:36.59. Cedarville won the men's event with 193 points. The track team will have the week off before returning to competition on February 4 at the Marietta Invitational. The meet will begin at 2 p.m.
