YORKTOWN, Ind. – Jordan Christian’s two-run double in the top of the eighth inning Thursday lifted Richmond to a 5-3 victory at Yorktown.

Chandler Whalen singled and Kyler Helms doubled to set up Christian’s game-winning hit.

Matt Morrow had two hits for Richmond, including a double, while Kendal Baker and Tyler Ripperger also had base hits.

Tyler Slawson started on the mound for Richmond and had six strikeouts. Baker and Helms threw in relief, with Helms earning the win.

“Great pitching performance I thought by both teams,” said RHS coach Tyler Lairson. “They (Yorktown) are a very, very good ballclub. They swing it very well. I thought we played the cleanest game we’ve played yet. I thought we did all the right things and showed a lot of life and swung it well. That’s a big win for our ballclub.”

The Red Devils were coming off a 4-3 loss on Wednesday at Connersville. Richmond had no errors in Thursday’s win over Yorktown.

Richmond (3-2) plays host Saturday to Pendleton Heights in a doubleheader at McBride Stadium.
