NEW CASTLE LAST WEEK: Trojans falter in Homecoming

The following article is from the New Castle Courier Times about last week's game against Anderson. This week the Red Devils host the Trojans in what will be he final meeting between the two schools.
An otherwise gorgeous Saturday afternoon on Homecoming weekend was anything but beautiful for the New Castle football team.
Anderson demolished the Trojans 49-7 at Huffman Field, a game in which very little went well for the Green and White. Anderson left with a 2-4 record, while New Castle tumbled to 0-6.
Tyler Welch rushed for 218 yards and scored five of Anderson's seven touchdowns. Defense, which has been a strength for Trojans this season, could not contain the the Indians.
"That surprised us," New Castle coach Will Ragle said. "We pride ourselves on having a much better defense. For whatever reason, we reverted to some bad habits with our tackling. We're just trying to figure out this mystery."
Personnel problems added to New Castle's misery. Senior quarterback Caleb Smith re-injured his leg and was out of the game before halftime. Running back Damon Dailey dislocated a shoulder and he too sat the second half. Running back Tanner Engel is off the team, having quit earlier in the week.
"Damon's shoulder will be evaluated on Monday," Ragle said. "Caleb aggravated his injury and we took him out mostly for precautionary reasons. He wants to play but we want to make sure he's healthy for the rest of our games."
The game was still within reach at halftime, with New Castle trailing 21-7. But Anderson scored three touchdowns in the third quarter.
Spencer Sargent scored New Castle's only touchdown, a one-yard run in the second quarter. Dylan Huff kicked the extra point. Huff did the kicking duties, as the Trojans' No. 1 kicker, Ryan Jones, was playing with the soccer team in Marion.
Backup quarterback Hank Neal led the Trojans in rushing with 55 yards. Cory Isenbarger caught New Castle's only two competed passes.
The Trojans go to Richmond next Friday.
