WRESTLING REGIONALS SATURDAY

Richmond’s Tiernan Center will be extremely busy beginning Saturday morning at 8am when hundreds of wrestlers will converge to attempt to qualify for semi-state next week.  39 area wrestlers will be competing including six from Richmond, six from Centerville, five from Hagerstown and three from Northeastern.  Six wrestlers from Winchester will also compete at Jay County.  Union City will have five at Jay County.

Richmond’s best shot at a Regional Championship may come from Sophomore Nate Trawick at 285.  Trawick won the sectional title last week and is currently ranked 10th in the state.  Titus Twine finished second last week at 138.  Blake Hillard will wrestle at 113, Jacob Haworth at 160, Hank Gross at 170 and Kendrick Krieder at 220.

Centerville will be well represented by two sectional champions, Alston Jenkinson (113) and Bryce Robinson(182).  Also competing Saturday from Centerville will be Dakota Tipton (120), Isaiah Michaels (126), Enrique Calderon (195) and Cameron Deloney (220).

Hagerstown will be lead by sectional champion Christian Cox (138).  The Tigers will also have Dakota Roach (120), Josh Wilson (152) and Gabe Cox (220) competing for a regional crown.

Northeastern will have Austin Wages (132), Cody Handley (145, ranked 5th) and Austin Finney (152).

Lincoln will be represented by Jessie Newton (106), Aaron Issacs (113) and Gus Rihm (152).

Union County will have five wrestlers Saturday including Cole Bowers (120), Austin Fuller (132), Emilio Aquino (152), Wyatt Krom (160) and Drew Deilkes (285). 

Winchester will compete at Jay County with Kevin Garringer (106), Gavin Cox (126), Angel Rascon (138), Damon Cross (160), Dustin Hangen (195) and Logan Williams (285).  Winchester won the TEC title this season.

The top four place winners in each weight class advance to the semi-state.  Richmond will feed into the New Castle semi-state, Jay County goes to FW Snider.
