WEST MIFFLIN, Pa. - The Indiana University East men's basketball team put up a
season-high in points in a 112-94 Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference win
at Point Park University on Jan. 22.
The Red Wolves improved to 14-7 overall and 4-2 in the KIAC. The Pioneers fell to
11-8 overall and 5-6 in the KIAC.
"We played well ... one better of the better games we've played this year," said IU
East coach Mark Hester.
"The thing I'm most proud of is that we closed it out. We extended a lead and didn't
sit on it."
Senior guard Marcus Isaac (Indianapolis, Ind./Purdue University North Central) led
IU East with 27 points. Sophomore guard Huston Clark (Kokomo, Ind./Kokomo High
School) had 21, sophomore guard Tyler Fangman (Cold Spring, Ky./Beechwood High
School) had 20 and freshman guard Vasha Davis (Hammond, Ind./Morton High School) had
a career-high 18.
The game was played at a frenetic pace befitting two teams that entered the game
ranked in the NAIA Division II's top eight in points per game
IU East trailed 7-0 in the early going, but recovered to go ahead for good at 23-21
on a 3-pointer by Isaac about 10 minutes into the half. The Red Wolves would lead by
as much as nine in the first half.
IU East then hit Point Park with a 9-0 run to start the second half to go ahead by
The Red Wolves later scored on eight consecutive possessions to take a 23-point
lead. The IU East lead would eventually hit 30.
IU East would lead by at least 18 points the rest of the way.
T.J. Heatherington led Point Park with 27 points.
IU East hosts KIAC opponent Berea College on Jan. 26 in the Richmond High School
Tiernan Center. Tipoff time is at 2 p.m. It's the first game in a stretch of five
home games in 10 days for IU East.
