Franklin College senior forward Gunner Erwin (Salem, Ind./H.S.) helped the
Grizzlies capture two conference road wins last week and has been named the
Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Player of the
Week. The senior scored a game-high 23 points, hitting 9-of-11 field goals,
and a perfect 5-for-5 from behind the arc in FC's 86-65 win at Manchester
Sunday. Erwin scored 20 points, on 6-of-15 shooting, with a game-high nine
rebounds in a 75-63 victory at Mount St. Joseph Wednesday. For the week,
Erwin averaged 21.5 points and 5.0 rebounds per game, while shooting 57.7%
from the field. Franklin (10-5, 5-3 HCAC) is set to face Rose-Hulman and
Earlham this week.
Women's Basketball - Nicole Coffman, Transylvania University
Transylvania University's Nicole Coffman (Liberty, Ky./Casey Co.) was
dominant as the Pioneers beat Hanover and Rose-Hulman last week and has been
named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Player
of the Week. The sophomore guard scored a career-high 30 points with four
assists and two steals in a 95-66 win over Hanover. In the Pioneers' 58-46
win at Rose-Hulman, Coffman scored 16 points with one rebound, one assist,
and one steal. For the week, the sophomore averaged 23.0 points and 2.5
rebounds per game, while shooting 50.0% from the floor. Transylvania (11-4,
7-1 HCAC) currently holds a game lead in the league standings and will
tangle with Mount St. Joseph and Anderson this week.
