Men's Basketball - Ethan Spurlin, Transylvania University

Transylvania University senior forward Ethan Spurlin (Stanford, Ky./Lincoln
Co.) led the Pioneers to wins over Franklin and Defiance last week and has
been named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's Basketball
Player of the Week for the second time.  The senior scored 21 points and
grabbed eight rebounds in a 72-58 win over Franklin on Wednesday evening.
In TU's 75-68 victory over Defiance Saturday, Spurlin notched his fifth
double-double of the year with 26 points and a career-high 17 rebounds.  For
the week, the senior forward averaged 23.5 points and 12.5 rebounds per
contest, while shooting 45.7% (15-35) from the field.  Transylvania (10-3,
5-1 HCAC) will travel to Hanover and Rose-Hulman this week.




Women's Basketball - Lindsay Rich, Franklin College

Franklin College's Lindsay Rich (Logansport, Ind./H.S.) helped the Grizzlies
capture two HCAC road wins last week and has been named the Heartland
Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week.  The
senior guard scored a career-high 19 points with three rebounds, three
assists, and four steals in FC's 63-53 win at Anderson on Saturday.  In a
68-65 win at Transylvania Wednesday, Rich added 16 points with nine
rebounds, four assists, and two steals.  For the week, the Logansport native
averaged 17.5 points, 6.0 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 3.0 steals per game
while shooting 70.6% (12-17) from the field and 100% (11-11) from the free
throw line.  Franklin (10-3, 4-2 HCAC) will host Mount St. Joseph and
Manchester this week.
