The sportswriters are coming out with their post season awards and that means it’s time for our own awards:

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR:   I am taking Texas A&M QB Johnny Manziel.   Manziel put up some crazy numbers running and passing the football.  “Johnny football” ran for 1181 yards and threw for another 3419.  That’s 4600 yards of total offense.

Other nominees included Northern Illinois QB Jordan Lynch and Ohio State QB Braxton Miller.

BEST RUNNING BACK:  Arizona’s KaDeem Carey.  Carey averaged 6.4 yards per carry this season and scored 20 touchdowns.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR:  Notre Dame LB Manti Te’o.    This one is easy.  Te’o led the Irish defense all season and intercepted seven passes.   Notre Dame’s defense was 6th in the country in total defense.

TEAM OF THE YEAR: Notre Dame.  Unranked during the pre-season to the National Championship!

SURPRISE TEAM OF THE YEAR:  Penn State.  After what this program went through to win 8 games in incredible.
