ATHENS, Tenn. - The Indiana University East fell 83-77 in double overtime against
Bryan College on the opening night of the Tennessee Wesleyan College Dwain Farmer
Classic on Nov. 23.
The NAIA Division II No. 22 Red Wolves fell to 4-2. The Lions are 3-5.
"We had a lot of energy in the pregame, but then it didn't carry over to the game,"
said IU East coach Mark Hester. “We didn’t guard the basketball well so they got
easy looks, and on offense we looked confused and didn’t move the basketball.”
Bryan hit back-to-back 3-pointers early in the second overtime to jump ahead 70-64.
IU East would get no closer than three the rest of the way.
IU East couldn't hold a 10-point lead in the final 4:33 of regulation. Bryan forced
overtime with a 3-pointer with about 20 seconds remaining.
Red Wolves junior forward Josh Cook (Gas City, Ind./Mississinewa High School) hit a
3-pointer with a minute remaining in the first extra session for the final points of
the first overtime.
Senior guard Marcus Isaac (Indianapolis, Ind./Purdue University North Central) led
IU East with 19 points. Cook added a season-high 15.
"Thank goodness Josh and Vasha (Davis) showed up," Hester said. "Vasha kept us in it
in the last five minutes of regulation, and Josh kept us in it in the overtime."
Davis (Hammond, Ind./Morton High School), a freshman guard, scored eight points and
grabbed seven rebounds.
Brandon Cole led Bryan with 27 points.
The Red Wolves faces tournament host and NAIA Division II No. 17 Tennessee Wesleyan
College at 4 p.m. on Nov. 24.
