Mount Pleasant, Mich. - The Ball State football team (5-3, 3-2 MAC) claimed a 41-30 win over Central Michigan (2-5, 0-3 MAC) Saturday evening at Kelly/Shorts Stadium.

Offensively sophomore running back Jahwan Edwards netted 128 yards which was his third 100 yard plus game of the season and fifth of his career.  Senior quarterback Keith Wenning threw for 231 yards with three touchdowns passing and one running.

Ball State added three scores in the second half as junior running back Barrington Scott had his second touchdown of the game after catching a seven yard TD pass from junior quarterback Keith Wenning

A 32-yard field goal with 3:00 minutes left in the contest gave the Cardinals the 41-23 edge over Central Michigan.

Central Michigan would close out the ball game with a touchdown at the 1:31 mark but the Cardinals held onto to its first half cushion for the victory.

A forced fumble was caused by senior defensive tackle Brandon Newman after the Chippewas had reached midfield at the start of the third quarter allowing teammate junior defensive tackle Nathan Ollie to recover the ball.  The Cardinals scored off of the Chippewas miscue when Wenning connected on a 5-yard touchdown pass to senior tight end Zane Fakes making the score 31-17.

After adding three scores in the second quarter which included a 1-yard touchdown run from Wenning, a 40-yard field goal from Schott and a 6-yard touchdown pass from Wenning to sophomore wide receiver Willie Snead with 10 seconds remaining in the half, gave Ball State the 24-10 halftime advantage over the Chippewas.

Ball State jumped out to an early 7-0 lead over Central Michigan after a 6-yard touchdown run from Scott at the 7:22 mark in the first quarter.
