On Saturday, the Richmond volleyball team won its first two matches in the Richmond Invitational, but despite losing the final two, senior Hannah Ball held her head up high, because she knew that her team had improved from match to match and showed heart in a 2-2 day at Tiernan Center. The Red Devils fell 25-22, 25-21 in the consolation match against Columbus North, finishing fourth as a team, but the team played better as the day went on, Ball said. “I think we worked a lot harder the last games than we have all day and our passes were a lot better too, and the hitters were finally putting hits down and we finally just played really good as a team,” she said. Richmond defeated Franklin County to start the day 21-25, 25-12, 15-7, then knocked off Indianapolis Tindley 25-6, 25-17 before falling to tournament runner-up Fort Wayne North 26-24, 21-25, 15-12.
