Home » Cross Country NewsRunning Red Devils open up SaturdayAugust 13, 2012 Richmond High SchoolIt’s been a long career in coaching cross country for Richmond High School head coach Ken Hittson. Long as in 25 years overall, and starting his ninth year as a part of the RHS program. But it’s a different kind of campaign ahead with 25 boys competing for spots on that team, yet only eight for the girls squad. The two RHS teams will be at very different points when the regular season begins Saturday at the Richmond Invitational on the Earlham College campus. On the boys side, there is a core group of five seniors, plus a pair of juniors and two sophomores, that will be looked to as expected leaders of the squad, according to Hittson. “I think we have a good group of guys to run in a pack this year,” Hittson said. “Pedro (Feliciano) and Sampson Allen will probably lead our boys, but we have a group of guys that could possibly fill varsity slots. We’ll just have to see what happens.” Feliciano and Allen are two of the seniors and were joined on the preseason roster by classmates Austin Bergfield, Robbie Pearles and Jai Wright. http://www.pal-item.com/article/20120812/SPORTS/308120016/Running-Red-Devils-open-up-Saturday
