Final round evokes memories
July 2, 2012Richmond High School
Watching the last two rounds of the AT&T National brought back some good memories for Richmond’s Bob Van Pelt.
He recalled the time his son, Bo, played with Tiger Woods at Muirfield Village Golf Club in Dublin, Ohio. The gallery was so packed, Bob Van Pelt had to find space on the lawn of an adjoining house, risking admonishment from its owner for his brief stay.
A packed house once again watched Woods and Bo Van Pelt square off Sunday in the final round of the AT&T National at Congressional Country Club in Bethesda, Md.
Woods edged the Richmond native, winning by two strokes. Woods and Van Pelt were tied with two holes to go.
Van Pelt finished second.
