WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The No. 48 Purdue men's golf team will open postseason play this weekend when it heads to French Lick Resort for the 2012 Big Ten Championships.

The 2012 conference event marks the first time that both the men and women will compete for a Big Ten title at the same time and at a neutral site.

The men's championship will be contested on the award-winning Pete Dye course, recently ranked No. 1 on Golfweek Magazine's list of "Best Courses You Can Play" in Indiana. In 2010, the highly acclaimed Dye course hosted the PGA of America's Professional National Championship.

The Dye course, which was named America's Best New Public Course by Golf Digest in 2009, was carved on a dramatic hilltop and offers a variety of elevation changes, rugged terrain, narrow fairways and challenging bunkers.

The No. 48 Boilermakers will be one of four teams in action this weekend that currently reside in the top 50 of the Golfweek/Sagarin , as No. 25 Iowa, No. 34 Illinois and No. 37 Indiana will also take to the Dye course.

Purdue coaches Devon Brouse, Greg Robertson and Brian Brodell will utilize a lineup of senior Tyler Duncan at No. 1, sophomore Adam Schenk at No. 2, freshman Justin Cho at No. 3, junior Jakob Ziegler at No. 4 and senior William Sjaichudinat No. 5.Duncan leads the Boilermakers with a 72.52 stroke average for the season, and has racked up six top-10 finishes in 10 outings. His best finish of the campaign is a tie for second at the Jack Nicklaus Invitational on the back of a five-under-par performance.

Schenk has competed in nine tournaments this season, compiling a 74.69 stroke average, while Cho owns a 74.13 scoring average in eight starts. Ziegler finished second at the LSU Invitational earlier this month and averages 74.71 strokes per round. Sjaichudin boasts a 74.61 stroke average on the year with one top-10 showing.

Purdue has won a dozen Big Ten titles in its men's golf history, and seen 13 of its players capture the individual conference crown, most recently Pariya Junhasavasdikul.

Live scoring for the Big Ten Men's Golf Championships will be available at golfstatresults.com, and more information on French Lick Resort can be found at frenchlick.com. The Big Ten Network will air highlights of the tournament on Sunday, May 13, at 10 a.m. ET.
