Dear, Montgomery-Lonsdale Public schools and community.

I am writing to you all to make an announcement.  As many of you may well know I will not be the head football coach for the Montgomery-Lonsdale Redbirds next season.  Coach Helland will be taking over as your new head coach as the Try-City United Titans.  This was a decision that I understood and completely agreed with.  Coach Helland is a great coach and will show his talents and strengths immediately.  I truly believe this program will have a very bright future.

Leaving this school and community will not be easy.  I loved being the Redbirds head coach these last three years.  It's always been about the Redbirds. This letters is not about me, either. It just ends one chapter in Redbird history and starts another. I just hope when this chapter is turned back in years ahead and is read that this chapter led to greater times for this community.

As for me I have been offered the job as the next head coach at Wabasha-Kellogg HS.  This is a position much like here when I started not but three years ago.  We will be small, often outnumbered but never lacking in commitment to trying our best.  It will take time and hard work to turn things around. I truly believe with planning our work and working our plan we will be successful.

In conclusion I want to thank the school, the players, the administration and the community for three of the very best years of my life.  It was my first opportunity to be a head coach.  I grew in my interpersonal skills and leadership traits.  No matter where my life’s path takes me from here I will always look back to this one.  I will always look back and say “those were some of the best days of my life.”
