Home » Football NewsRedbirds fall in last homecoming 21-28October 17, 2011 By Tim Klingbeil of Montgomery-Lonsdale FootballWeek #7 vs. Sibley East (Loss 28-21) 1. Comments about last Friday's game? - There has not been a harder loss in the last 3 years for the redbirds. The crowd, the week and the fact that’s it’s our last homecoming. We really wanted and we had a shot. We simply did not get the job done and we came up short. 2. The boys started out strong with a great run by Sonnenburg and a TD from Jeff Tiede, and a great first half. Tell me about that. - Our kids came out fired up and really fed of the energy from the crowd. It was an amazing effort and I am really proud of how our kids fought. Seniors Jeff Tiede and Kyle Sonnenburg made play calling easy. We knew once those guys had the ball in their hands they would do the rest. Also our defense was well prepared as always making several key stops. 3. The Wolverines changed the second half and tied the game, before we pulled out ahead. It seemed like it was still anyone's game. How did you keep the boys moving? - Sibley East is a very well coached team by Coach Chuck Hartman. One can depend on the fact they will fight tooth and claw tell the very end. They are much like us and that’s why it was such an even match up. 4. One point separated the scores until the final couple of minutes. What did the Wolverines do right? - There were many plays that factored into the game. It was back and forth throughout. Really it came down to 4 & 23 to go and they converted for a TD. It’s not one play that decides a game but this one nearly did. 5. Last comments. - I can promise you one thing… The Redbirds will be ready for Watertown-Mayer on Tuesday. 6. Stats.
