Home » Ladies of Redan NewsWho Are Those Pretty Girls With the Pink and Pearls?November 30, 2009 By Diamond Jefferies of Redan High SchoolLeadership. Academics. Dignity. Image. Esteem. Service. This is what Ladies of Redan is all about. No, we don't just meet to eat cookies and drink tea with our pinkies in the air. We don't just flaunt our pink and pearls and we don't put our noses in the air. Despite what you may belief, we mean business. The purpose of the Ladies of Redan is to strengthen the bonds of sisterhood among young women in an effort to ensure the success of all in the future. The Ladies of Redan was founded in the fall of 1998. The organization was developed to encourage character, self-motivation, self-esteem, self-respect, and sisterhood for young ladies at Redan High School. The Ladies of Redan has been an inspiration to many young women helping them succeed in academics, as well as other extra-curricular activities. In the past, we have produced valedictorians, salutorains, Ms. RHSs, and Miss 12th Grade amongst others. Though we have lots of fun with our numerous workshops, including the LOR vs. MOR Relationship Forum and the annual Gingerbread House Contest, we are dedicated to the community. Lat year alone, we fed two deserving families on Thanksgiving, donated winter items to the local group home, participated in the AIDS Walk, sent a girl to prom, and opened a dress closet for underprivileged girls. Being a Lady of Redan ensures that you'll always have a support system. If you need a shoulder to lean on, someone to wipe your tears, someone to laugh with, or just someone to tell you that everything will be okay, you can always call on your sister. Ladies of Redan also educates. With our annual health week, we are informed on physical health, social health, mental health, and hygiene. We are taught to be poised and are given proper guidance through the sponsor Mrs. Blake, and advisors Ms. Mack and Ms. McKinney. We learn to appreciate and respect different cultures, people, and issues of the world. Members of the Ladies of Redan are leaders of the school and are admired for their image, as well their accomplishments. To be a Lady of Redan is not just a privilege; it is an honor.
