Rebels drop Two in a Row

Coming off a stinging late game loss to Centennial on Friday night, the Rebels traveled to Osseo to face another 1st place conference opponent.

It was the second game in a row for the 9B team against Osseo and they again came away with a lopsided, this time on the road. The 9B squad remains unbeaten thus far on the season.

9A followed suit on the neighboring court and cruised to a 55-33 win behind the play of Kacie Tomniczak and Abby Anderson. The 9A improved their record to 9-1 on the season.

The sophomore team cruised to 25 point win of their own as Osseo had no answer for our full-court pressure. Cassie Allender led all scorers with 12 points.

The JV team led the game throughout but never by more than 6 points and Osseo found their mark late to steal away a 1 point win. Kara Stuckmeyer continues to excel defensively for the Rebels and Genevae Adkins and Kendall Soderstrom led the way offensively for the night.

The Varsity squad opened their game against the Orioles with 4 turnovers and 0-3 shooting on their first seven possessions and saw Osseo open up am 11 point lead 3 minutes into the game. The Rebels settled down from there and the rest of the half played out to a tie with Osseo up 27-16 at the half. Champlin Park shot just 2-21 in the first half while turning the ball over 14 times. Credit the Osseo defense for a majority of those with their ball pressure but the team is learning they have to value the possessions a little more against these top teams. The second half started much the same way the first half ended with Osseo never getting a lead bigger than 16 but Champlin never pulling closer than 10. Osseo rode out that lead and extended it late to take a 61-37 victory on their home court. Rebounding was the key for the game as Osseo scored only 17 points on first shots out of their half court offense. But, the Rebels gave up 44 points in transition and offensive put-backs.

The Rebels return to action at home on Friday night when Coon Rapids comes to town off a big win against Park Center on Tuesday night. The Cardinals also defeated Osseo earlier in the year so we know they have the potential to be a very good team.
