Victory for Soccer Sets Up Showdown vs Park Hill South

October 1, 2010
By Ryan Murdock of Raytown South High School

Men's soccer won its second in row and 4th in the last 5 games after defeating Raytown 1-0 on Thursday night.  The Cardinals didn't play very well but were good enough to beat the Bluejays.  South had far more chances than Raytown and had a goal disallowed and had numerous shots that didn't find the back of the net.  Irvin Ortiz netted the only goal about 18 minutes into the game.  The Cardinals braved a few tense moments late in the game.

South now looks towards Park Hill South.  It will be their third game in three days but a very crucial test as the Cardinals look to get to the top of the conference standings.  South is now 4-1 in the conference play and Park Hill South is 5-1 in conference play.  The game is at home and starts at the special time of 4p.m. because of the football game later in the night.  Please come out and support the team, we could really use it!
