Terry "Papa" Scott

September 21, 2009
By Terry Scott of Raytown South High School

A Missouri high school standout who won multiple state championships and was recruited heavily for track and football.

He decided to attend the University of Tennessee where ran track and played football. While obtaining a B.A. degree he managed to win several SEC, NCAA and World Championships. He also made several USA teams and participated in multiple US Championships and Olympic Trials. Terry had the honor of being ranked #1 in the world in the 100 meters.

While a student at Tennessee he met his wife Menka, who was a Lady Vol track athlete.  Together they began coaching middle school, high school, college and professional athletes. Their clients were professional football players, baseball players, tennis athletes, swimmers and of course track athletes. Terry was soon asked to join the University of Tennessee strength and conditioning coaching staff where he became known as the “Speed Guru.”He and his wife have assisted over 100 high school athletes in obtaining college scholarships.

Terry’s father became extremely ill in 1997, which led to Terry moving back to Kansas City to help his family. He has been the Head Girls and Boys Head Track Coach at Raytown South for ___ years with much success. He has won a State Championship and was named Coach of the Year for the State of MO. in 2008. Coach Scott is looking forward to another very successful year!!
