Home » Middle School Football News2012 Football Season gets underwayJuly 26, 2012 By Kennedy Johnson of Raytown South High SchoolThe offical start of the 2012 football season began with a 5-day camp, July 16-20th. Twenty young men came out and learned what it will take for the Cardinals to be successful on the up coming season. The athletes learned many skills from the Middle School staff and the High School Coaches who came down to assist with camp. The athletes also were given new Red shirts and black shorts for attending camp. What the staff observed at camp is very encouraging. Kennedy Johnson, in his 14th year at the helm of the Cardinals, sees a lot of potential. "We are not very big, however, we are very fast and athletic", they say speed kills on the football field and the coaches will put this theory to the test this Fall. The real challange will be getting players into the positions they will play this Fall. Everything starts with the offensive and defensive lines. They are the foundations of a good team. There will be some challenges for the players and coaches, but in time and practice the teal will be ready for their first game Sept. 6th vs. Center Middle School.
