Head Coach Chris Moss is excited about the impending 2013 Good Hope Raider football season. Moss said today that "the seniors are a good bunch of kids" and he is "looking for them to lead" this version of Raider football to success.
Last week the Raiders got off to a sluggish start with West Point up 0-7 at the half. A Justin Turner interception sparked the boys in red and, with Sebastien Fendley at the helm, the Raiders came back and won the game 28-7. Fendley ran for a touchdown to covert the interception into points. Jonathan Burnette and Austin Crumbley both scored after the Raider defense recovered fumbles. Moss said "the kids never quit. Down 7 at the half and found a way to win." No doubt it is great to go into West Point and come away with a win. Even it is is a preseason jamboree game.
Moss said that he expects Sebatien Fendley to start at quarterback tomorrow night against the Holly Pond Broncos. Fendley and the entire Raider squad have worked very hard in the off season to prepare their bodies to both be ready and handle the week to week pounding that goes along with prep football.
During the summer Fendley attended various camps and performed quite well. His most astonishing accomplishment was a 4.4 in the 40 yard dash at the NUC combine in Atlanta, GA. That speed could prove very beneficial for Good Hope this year.
As the season moves along we will highlight players with each advance article. We are looking forward to a great season.
The seniors that Coach Moss is looking to for leadership are:
1 Chris Raper, 2 Sabatien Fednley, 5 Zac Witcher, 11 Riley Esner, 31 Collin Harris, 35 Alex Cofer, 54 Blake Watson, 62 Jon Grigsby, 72 Antony Harland, 74 Daniel Moss, 76 Riley Hancock, 79 Tim Krittner
There are several underclassment that will make an impact this year as well. Justin Turner (jr), Jerrod McClure (jr), Austin White (jr), Colter Leith (jr), Kainan Smith (jr) and Austin Crumbley are some of the juniors to watch for. Jonathan Burnette and Lee Wisenant as well as Jordan Collins will hear their names called a lot on the public address system for a job well done.
Time will tell who the Raiders can look to for that big play when it's needed!
The Broncos have a new coach with a ton of championship experience so don't think that Holly Pond will step into James W Shabel Stadium tomorrow at 7 pm with anything less than a winning attitude. This version of the Broncos will be big up front, quick in the skill positions and they have a young left handed quarterback that can throw the ball.
Raider Sports Network is still "BRINGING THE GAME TO YOU!" with up to date reporting throughout the season. We will (signal permitting) post as close to play-by-play as we can during each contest with a recap at the top of the page after play is over.
Jim Stinson will be providing pictures for Raider Sports Network this year.
