New High School Football Program
November 28, 2012By Naundra Taylor of Queen City Preparatory Academy
Charlotte, NC-Queen City Preparatory Academy will be adding a high school varsity football program for the 2013-14 academic year. "We've waited a really long time for this opportunity to be available and it just breathes some excitement into the school," Founder of School Tony Taylor said.
The team will play a limited first-year game schedule against similarly sized private schools. In 2013-14, Head Coach Eddie McCollum plans to add its first post-graduate team. The groundwork for a football program was laid more than five years ago when it was officially endorsed as a goaln the school's 2008 Strategic Plan.
"We've had a hole in our fall boys athletic offerings for as long as the school's existed," Head of School Naundra Taylor said. "We have had only boys basketball in the winter. We hope to add girls sports programs very soon as well."
Football director, Coach Osei Kenney and Head Football Coach Eddie McCollum bring a host of experience and talent to the program. The football program will add more exposure and enrollment at the school as well as reaching more students who have a desire to compete in a very competitive football program.
Queen City Preparatory Academy is a non-denominational Christian school.
