By psouth hoops of Parkway South Basketball

Tuesday night South faced another conference opponent in the Mehlville Panthers.  The game opened with Mehlville scoring the first five points.  South had missed some easy opportunities that as the game got going turned into easy field goals.  South was able to get things going with Highsmith, Verges, and Dandridge.  Those three players had all of the first 40 points the Patriots scored.   With that being said, South walked into halftime with a ten point lead with the help of playing all eleven guys.  During the third quarter South was able to open the lead to as much as 21 points.  Jeremy Verges, who ended the night with 24 points, went on a 7-0 run by himself in the third quarter.  South got a little comfortable with the lead and Mehlville kept fighting back.  The Panthers switched defenses causing them to score nine consecutive points.  A few minutes into the fourth quarter and the Patriots adjusted to the new defensive look and finished the game winning 65-51.

Because of the win South moves to 2-1 in conference play.  Next up is the rival Eureka Wildcats this Friday at 7 at Eureka.
