The Patriots (6-5, 1-1) won their first Suburban West Conference game of the season 57-49 Friday night at home against Marquette.  After each team traded baskets in the early going of the game, South was able to open up a 15-7 lead after one quarter and never trailed the rest of the game.  PS was paced by Jeremey Verges and Matt Highsmith in the first half as they scored 10 and 11 points respectively as the teams went to the locker rooms at half time with the Patriots leading 30-19.  The second half was much of the same as the Patriots went on to win the game 57-49.  Verges finished with 20 points and four assists while Highsmith finished with 19 points and 12 rebounds.  Brooks Gerritty led the Mustangs and all scorers with 24 points.  The win was the third in a row for South.
