Home » Boys' Basketball NewsSouth wins third straight GAC-Suburban Shootout GameDecember 17, 2012 By psouth hoops of Parkway South BasketballThe cavernous confines of the St. Charles Family Arena are friendly yet again to the Patriots as they beat Francis Howell 60-50 on Saturday. The Patriots knocked down six three's in the first half to jump out to 17 point lead in the first half. The Patriots were able to hold on to a third quarter rush by Howell. The Vikings cut the lead to 9 but the Patriots then pushed the lead back up to 17 by the end of the third quarter. However, South did stumble across the finish line by only managing one field goal in the fourth quarter and turning the ball over. The Patriots shot the ball well again from the free-throw line in the fourth, shooting 84% on the night, squashing any chance at a Howell comeback. The Patriots were led by steady play again from Chris Dandridge, who had 4 steals, 2 assists, and 8 points. Sam Rudnick had the hot hand early scoring 8 of his career high 11 points in the first quarter. Courtland Rogers also hit early and often going 3 for 3 from 3. Matt Highsmith put together his perhaps best start of his early career. He was a very efficient scorer, going 5-7 from the floor, 6-7 from the line. He also added 9 boards, 4 steals, and three blocks. Next up for the Patriots will be Luthern North this Saturday at 2:00 pm in the MICDS Holiday Tournament.
