Played on the St. Louis McDonnell Douglas Aircraft Wings from 1965-68, both Basketball and Fast Pitch Softball, as a person who began playing Basketball on an official team at the age of 18, it took me working extremely hard from 1962 till 1965 to make the Team, I will be forever indebted to Joe Simpson, the Founder, Coach and Sponsor of the Wings for giving me the opportunity to enjoy the thrill of not only competing but winning Championships in both Sports. I received a Junior College Scholarship offer at Parks Air College in 1966 with no High School experience.
The Wings experience guided my Family to start the Arkansas Wings in 1980, we have competed in AAU and other events for the past 32 years. Thanks to a loving God and Family, I have been blessed to serve as an AAU Volunteer at both the local and National Level, I served as the National Chairman for AAU Boys Basketball, and am currently serving my 5th term as National Treasurer. I was inducted into the AAU Volunteer Hall of Fame in 2002.
The Wings are one of the most respected AAU Clubs in America, having Won 8 AAU National Championships, 26 Final 4's, and 53 top 10 Finishes. We are very proud of our history of young men receiving College Schloarships, including 23 starting College at some level in 2011.
