It was a prophecy of things to come. Prattville opened its 2011-2012 basketball season with an 89-44 romp over the Mustangs. After four minutes of play Prattville had ran off a 14-2 run and never looked back. The Mustangs did win the final four-minutes of the first quarter, 8-4, to trail only 18-10 as the period ended. That was the last hoo-rah for the Mustangs. Prattville blew the doors off in the second period winning it, 23-13, to take a commanding, 41-23, halftime margin. It got worst in the third period for the Mustangs as the Lions built a 64-27 lead, winning the quarter 23-4. The final period the Lions won as well, 25-17 to ease to the blowout win. Senior Brandon Smith led the Lions with 23 points, followed by Lawrence with 18 points, George Michael Rowe with 15 points and LaBarrin Eaton added a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds.
