The Mustangs girls’ team took an early lead over Prattville and coasted to a 28-19 win over coach Misty Harris’ Lady Cats. Alexeya Hall paced the Lady Cats with eight points, while Tynesha Adams added five points, and MyKenzie Davey tossed in four points. Following the young ladies game the Cats boys’ team lost a tough encounter with Millbrook. Prattville held a 21-14 lead as the final quarter began. However Millbrook rallied to outscore the Cats in the fourth period 13-5 to win. The Cats couldn’t handle Millbrook’s pressure defense and turned the ball over 14 times in the final period as the Mustangs rallied for the win. Prattville took the lead in the first period when Courtney Cain drilled a three-pointer. A basket by Derek Gappa and a two pointer from Cain gave the Cats an 8-5 lead at the close of the period. The Cats kept the lead at halftime, highlighted by a coast to coast trip from Nequan Brown on a steal, 13-10. Midway of the third period Braxton James hit a putback in the lane for a nine point lead with 3:52 left in the period. From that point Millbrook outscored the Cats 17-7 in the final ten minutes to pick up the hard fought win. Brown led the Cats scoring with 12 points, while James and Cain both added four points. Kendarius Edwards was top scorer for Millbrook with eight points.
