Martin Jackson, head baseball coach at Prattville High School, recently submitted his resignation to Principal Richard Dennis.  Jackson has been the head baseball coach for two seasons stated his desire to pursue his Master’s Degree

He plans to work toward a Master Degree in Educational Administration from his former college the University of West Alabama.

Jackson is in his tenth year at Prattville High School as a teacher and coach.  He was named head baseball coach in the fall of 2012.  During his two years as head coach the Lions record was 41-33.  His teams advanced to the state class 6A playoffs both seasons, although they were eliminated in the first round.

Jackson said he enjoyed his ten years of coaching experience, but felt it was time to fulfill his desire for a master degree. Jackson, a native of Prattville, coached football, (defensive backs for ten years), eight years as baseball assistant and two years as head coach.

Jackson will remain on the staff as a teacher at the high school.

Athletic Director Chad Anderson confirmed that assistant baseball coach Joseph Colvin has been elevated to the head coaching position.  Colvin has been the pitching and catching coach since 2010.

Colvin is a native of Oxford.  Like Jackson Colvin attended Shelton State Community College on a baseball scholarship.  He graduated in 2002 then pursued his Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education from Auburn University Montgomery where he graduated in 2006.   He earned his Master’s Degree in Special Education from AUM in 2012.

Colvin was head baseball coach at Robert E. Lee for two years.  His 2008 team ended season with 10-23 record, while his second year 2009 record was 13-14.  Under Colvin the Generals played Prattville both seasons with a 0-5 record

He currently teaches special education at Prattville High in the field of math.  He also serves as an assistant football coach

Colvin said Tuesday morning, June 10, that the 2015 baseball schedule has been finalized.  He also said that assistant coaches Kerry Jeffries and Walter Myers will return.
