FORMER LION NAMED TO CONFERENCE ALL-STAR TEAM

GAGE MOONEY LANDS SPOT AS RELIEF PITCHER ON USA SOUTH CONFERENCE ALL-STAR TEAM
Gage Mooney, a member of the 2010 Prattville High School baseball team was named to the USA South Conference’s all-star baseball team recently. He was one of three players honored from the LaGrange baseball team.
LaGrange is a member of the USA South Conference. Montgomery’s Huntingdon College is also a member, along with ten other schools in the southeast.
Mooney was named as a relief pitcher, along with teammates, Kyle Nerbonne, catcher, and Casey Bell, designated hitter.
Mooney is a senior relief pitcher for the LaGrange (Georgia) College Panthers. He led the conference in strikeouts having fanned 33 in 34 innings of relief work. He also led the conference with a 1.09 ERA with a 2-0 record, and recorded one save.
Mooney graduated from Prattville High School in 2010 and was a three year letterman for the Lions baseball program. He played for Coach Tommy Goodson. Doing his senior season he was a relief pitcher for the Lions as well as playing infield.
He hit .295, drove in 14 runs and hit five home runs. He also had .955 fielding percentage playing third base. As a pitcher he had a 2-1 record, and recorded one save with a 3.32 ERA.
He is the son of Wayne and Ann Mooney of Prattville.
