SIX LIONS SIGN LETTERS OF INTENT FOR FOOTBALL
Head Football Coach Chad Anderson conducted a happy event Thursday morning, March 20, at Prattville High School. In a ceremony conducted in the commons area of the school, six members of the 2013 football team inked letters of intent to continue their education with letters of intent to play football at the next level.
Highlighting the six signees was Austin Schuffert, offensive lineman, signing with the United States Military Academy (Army). Schuffert became the second Lion to accept an offer from the military academy. Jarrod Jones, middle linebacker, signed with the Black Knights on National Signing Day.
Two defensive stars will take their skills out west to Roswell, New Mexico to attend New Mexico Military Institute.
Walter Steele, a defensive back, and Troy Quinn, defensive lineman, signed with the Broncos. New Mexico Military plays in the Western States Football League (Junior College).
Anderson said the school has a high rate of placing thier players in four year colleges after the two years of junior college.
Three other Lions chose to continue their education by accepting academic scholarship offers to attend Huntingdon College and become member’s of the Hawks football program. Justin Chappell, wide receiver, Jeremiah Andrews, linebacker and Clark Rice, offensive lineman will join Coach Mike Turk’s Hawks this fall.
With the six players signing Thursday, the 2013 Prattville Lions football team produced 11 scholarships. Five Lions signed on NSD.
