INDIANS TAKE ADVANTAGE OF LION TURNOVERS AT END
Xavier Robinson’s Prattville Lions boys’ basketball team and the Wetumpka Indians played another barn burner Tuesday night January 21 in Wetumpka.
Again it went down to the wire with Wetumpka taking advantage of two critical Prattville turnovers in the final ten seconds to defeat the Lions for the second time this season, 75-72. Prattville had taken a 72-71 lead with 1:04 remaining on an Andre McBride steal and layup.
McBride pilfered the ball after Kingston Davis had missed a free throw and Wetumpka was taking it down court. Davis raced down the free throw lane dropping in a 2-pointer and a 72-71 Prattville lead.
Wetumpka then went down court and milked the clock down to 48.8 seconds and took a time out.
Rodreka Jones then drove down the side of the free-throw lane and dropped in a bucket with 21.8 on the clock for a 73-72 lead.
Prattville took the ball out and again turned the ball over at midcourt with 7.7 seconds to play. Wetumpka then ran out the clock to post a 75-72 Area 7 class 6A victory.
