Home » Baseball NewsPRATTVILLE JAYVEES DEFEAT MARBURY'S JV,9-1March 11, 2013 By Jimmy White of Prattville High SchoolCODY WYATT'S PITCHING; RHETT HOLLON HITTING PACE LIONS TO WIN Coach Walter Myers, Junior’s Prattville Jayvee team defeated the Marbury Jayvees Saturday morning in Marbury, 9-1. The Lions got a brilliant pitching performance from sophomore Cody Wyatt to open the game. Wyatt went three innings and gave up on only one base hit, while blanking the Bulldogs. Following Ross on the hill was Jacob Strickland for two innings, Justin Camera and finally Tre Turner, both pitching one inning. The Bulldogs collected only three hits, a single by Will Lyons, while Kodie Hanes collected two singles. The solo run came in the fourth inning. Christian Mitchell was hit by a pitch to open the inning. He went to third on a throwing error from Prattville’s left fielded Austin Compassi. Mitchell then scored on as Hanes ripped a base rap into right field. Prattville jumped on the Bulldogs starting pitcher southpaw Joseph Jennings in the first inning. After one was out Rhett Hollon ripped a double down the left field line. Jennings then had a tough time finding the plate as he walked Bryson Williams and Gideon Moyer to load the bases. Campassi then knocked Hollon home with a base rap. Wesley King singled to load the bases again. Tre Tuner then rapped a base hit to right field to plate Williams and Moyer. Before the inning was over Campassi and King had raced home or a 5-0 lead. Prattville added three more runs in the second inning. Dy Johnson opened the inning with a single. He then stole second base and scored as Rhett Hollon’s rapped his second base hit into centerfield. Zach Hahn walked, and both Hahn and Hollon were chased home with a double by Campassi. The Lions added their final run in the fifth inning when Kevin Sadler singled and later Trevor Morgan (courtesy runner for Sadler) scoed on a base hit by Johnson. Hollon lead the Lions’ Junior Varsity with three base hits, while Campassi and Johnson both collected two base raps.
