The Alabama Christian Academy Eagles took advantage of the error pronged Prattville Lions Tuesday night, March 5 at frigid Paterson Field in Montgomery and rolled to an 11-0 win over the Lions. It was an embarrassing defeat for Prattville’s baseball team. The Eagles starting pitcher Chandler Taylor, apparently had no effect from the cold weather. Taylor breezed thru Prattville’s lineup, surrendering only two base hits, striking out seven and walking only one. To rub salt in the wound Taylor also blasted two home runs over the right field fence, one over the 364 marker and the second home run over the 340 marker. He also had a two base hit and drove in five runs for the evening. Prattville also played" kick the ball around", committing five errors, which led to seven unearned runs. The game was the first for the Lions in the Jason Armstrong Memorial FCA Tournament. Prattville will play Trinity Presbyterian School at 2 PM Thursday March 7 in Riverwalk Stadium. The Lions then will take on St. James Academy Friday afternoon, March 8 at 4 PM at Paterson Field to wrap up their first appearance in the tournament. The Eagles took a 1-0 lead in the first inning when Taylor hit his first round tripper off starting pitcher Chandler Mullins. Taylor took a 2-0 fast ball and parked it over the right field fence. Prattville had an opportunity to knot the game in their half of the inning as Mullins led off and reached second base on an Eagle error. Taylor then retired the next three Lions. Prattville then gave up four unearned runs in the third inning as the Eagles rapped out four hits, including Taylor’s double which plated two runs. Trailing 5-0 Prattville had an opportunity to get on the scoreboard in their half of the third inning. Chandler Kemp led off with a double and went to third on a throwing error by Taylor. Zack Brown then rapped a fly ball to right fielder J. J. Kid who rifled a perfect shrike to catcher Tanner Parham who tagged Kemp out at the plate. Alabama Christian jumped on Lion relief pitcher Dalton Yarnell for six runs in their final at bat in the seventh inning. Only three of the runs were earned. Taylor hit his second home run of the game in the uprising.
