NUMBER SIX RANKED THOMPSON DEFEAT LIONS, 72-39

THOMPSON USE 14-2 RUN IN FIRT QUARTER TO RUN AWAY FROM LIONS

 

Deja Jeanpierce drilled a two-pointer from the corner Tuesday night at Powell Gymnasium to break a 6-6 tie with the Prattville Lions.  The two pointer sparked the Warriors to a 14-2 run and a 20-8 lead at the close of the first period.

 

Prattville could never get any closer as the number sixth ranked Warriors improved to 16-5 and 3-0 in Region play.  Prattville did trim the lead to nine points, 22-13 with 6:43 left in the first half.  Daniel Ewert raced down court and laid in a deuce, was fouled and was successful with the free throw.

 

Thompson finished the half with a 14-0 run and a 39-14 margin at half time.

 

Prattville came storming back in the third period and won the quarter 13-9.  Ewert had six points, while Jae Patterson added seven points.

 

The final quarter the Warriors flexed their muscles and blew the Lions away, 23-12 to post their 16th win against five defeats.

 

Prattville did not help their cause with 24 turnovers.

 

Daniel Ewert paced the Lions with a double double tossing in 21 points, and pulling down 17- boards as well as having four steals.  Jae Patterson added 11 –points and six boards.

 

Déjà Jeanpierce led the Warriors with 18-points, five boards and four assists.  Kelsea Bivins finished with a double-double, scoring 18-points and pulling down ten boards, also added five steals and 2 block shots.

 

Thompson leads Area 7 Class 6A with a 3-0 record.  The Warriors have three games left to play in the area race. The Warriors play home dates January 15 with Stanhope Elmore and January 25 with Prattville.  Thompson will travel to Wetumpka January 18.
