ROBERT E. LEE JAYVEES USE 15-0 SECOND HALF RUN TO EASE PAST LIONS Coach Kevin Bozeman and Brandon Vaughn’s Jayvee basketball team played Robert E. Lee’s jayvees to a near standstill for the first half Saturday night January 5 at Powell Gymnasium. The Lions trailed only 27-25 at half time, and had played well. Alas the game has two halves. Lee’s Wesley McDaniel stole Prattville’s toss in to start the second half and raced down court for an easy layup. It ignited the Generals to a 15-0 run and a 42-25 lead. Prattville oculd neve over come the miseable second half start. Robert E. Lee went on to finish off the Lions' jayvees eaily, 58-43. CJ Coleman finally broke the run hitting the frontend of a two shot free throw with 2:50 left in the third quarter. The quarter ended with the Generals on top 48-31. Prattville played Lee on an even knell during the first half. Craig Bell drained a trey to open the action and Ledanian Hartwell added a two pointer giving Lee a quick 5-0 lead before Daniel Montville tossed in a three-pointer for Prattville. With 1:13 left in the quarter Jeremiah Seay hit a three pointer giving Prattville a 12-11 lead. It last only seconds as the Generals went down court with McDaniel getting a put back and a 13-12 lead. The Generals got a turnover on the toss in and an easy bucket from Hartwell for a 16-12 lead at the close of the quarter. With 3:26 left in the first half Mike Wise tossed in a bucket to give Prattville a 21-20 lead. It lasted only seconds as Lee went down court with Hartwell getting a rebound and a easy under the nets put back and a 22-21 Lee lead. The Generals never trailed again taking a 27-25 halftime margin which set up the 15-0 run to begin the second half. CJ Coleman paced the Lions’ jayvees with 15-points, including draining two treys. Neguan Brown added ten points and Derek Gappa tossed in nine points. Hartwell led the Generals with 20 points, while Steve banks added 13 and Wesley McDaniel added ten points.
