PRATTVILLE JAYVEES BOUNCED BY WOODLANW COLONELS 51-37
Prattville Coaches’ Kevin Bozeman and Brandon Vaughn felt that the Lions' Jayvee basketball team improved Friday night. The Lions Jayvees took over Woodlawn High of Birmingham in Jayvee action at Powell Gymnasium. The results were a 51-37 defeat at the hands of the lads from the Magic City.
Prattville’s Jayvees played their best game of the season in a losing effort and both coaches felt the team had improved. “We still have a long way to go, but they are getting better,” Bozeman said following the game.
Behind the sharp shooting of Jovian Williams and Jalen DuBose, Woodlawn jumped to an early 9-0 run and never looked back. Prattville finally scored with 1:35 left in the first period when Jeremiah Seay drained a 2-pointer from top of the key.
The two-pointer was all the scoring the Lions could muster during the first period. As the second quarter began Woodlawn took advantage of four straight Lion turnovers which resulted in eight points to build a 21-2 lead midway of the period.
At halftime the Lions trailed 23-9.
Prattville played better the second half and battled the Colonels to a 28-28 stalemate during the final 12 minutes of play.
C. J. Coleman paced Prattville with 18 points, followed by Seay with six points and Nequan Brown with five points.
Woodlawn’s Jovian Williams led all scorers with 22 points. Jalen Dubose added 12 and Chris Coleman finished with eight points.
