Home » Boys' Basketball NewsPRATTVILLE JAYVEES DEFEAT CALHOUN, 53-40November 28, 2012 By Jimmy White of Prattville High SchoolCJ COLEMAN, JEREMIAH SEAY PACE SECOND HALF TURNAROUND Prattville’s boys’ junior varsity basketball team shook off a lackadaisical first half performance Tuesday night at Powell Gymnasium against a very talented Calhoun Jayvees. The Lion Cubs came back the second half and raced to a 53-40 win over the Tiger Cubs. Trailing 11-10, after blowing an 10-3 first quarter lead, by giving up an 8-0 run to end the first period the Tigers continued to baffle the Lions adding to the run with two more buckets building the lead to 15-10. Two free throws from CJ Coleman finally broke the Tigers run. Prattville hung with Calhoun cutting the Tigers lead to 21-16 with 1:33 left in the half. At halftime Prattville was looking at a 25-19 deficit. The third quarter was an unbelievable performance by Coach Derrick Moncreif’s Jayvees. Prattville outscored Calhoun, 17-1 to take a 36-26 lead. With 3:58 left in the game Prattville had cruised to a 16 point lead, 44-28. The Lions had outscored Calhoun the second half, 25-3. The Tigers made a mini run in the final two minutes to close the gap to 53-40.
CJ Coleman sparked the third quarter turnaround by tossing in 10 of the 17 points, while Jeremiah Seay tossed in a trey and a two pointer.
Coleman finished with 23 points, with Seay adding 14 points. Lavail Winters had six points and Nequan Brown tossed in three.
