June 17, 2012
By Jimmy White of Prattville High School

Two outstanding baseball players from Coach Tommy Goodson’s 2012 Prattville High baseball team were named to the Alabama Sports Writers All-State team last week.

Austin Crook, senior southpaw hurler was named to the first team, while Dalton Kelley, senior infielder earned a second place nomination from the writers. Both were valuable members of the team that ended the season with a 33-6 record.

Crook ended his Prattville career on a high note with an 11-0 record.  His ERA was an astounding 0 .48.  Crook pitched 73 innings and struck out 111 while walking only 10.

Kelley ended his Prattville career with a .428 batting average, scoring 51 runs and stealing 18 bases.  He also drove in 31 runs with a .460 on base percentage.

Crook will attend Faulkner State Community College in Bay Minette this fall.  Kelley will attend Gulf Coast Community College in Panama City, Florida.
