Vikings split double header vs Patriots

On saturday the Vikings faced the Patriots of Thomas Jefferson. In game one, the Patriots scored 3 runs in the first inning and held on to beat the Vikings 3-2.
In game 2, the Vikings fell behind 2-0. The Vikings got one back in the 3rd and 1 run in the 4th on a lead off HR by senior Pedro Barco, this was his first ever HR, and the first HR ever hit at Mercy Street Field. The Vikings then gave up 4 runs in the 5th. The score was then 6-2. The Vikings then exploded for 5 runs in the bottom half of the 5th, making the score 7-6. Starter, Mario Munoz, who went 5 innings, gave the ball to Esiquio Lara with a one run lead. In the 6th inning Esiquio shut down the Patriots. In the bottom half of the sixth inning, the Vikings were able to score 3 more to go up by a score of 10-6. Esiquio went back out and closed the door. The game ended with LF Freshman Luis Tristan (Nemo) gunning down a runner at the plate.
Mario Munoz notched his first win, and Esiquio Lara, notched the first ever save for Pinkston, by pitching 2 innings and holding the lead for Mario.
With the win the Vikings have surpassed all teams of the pass with a total of 7 wins. The Vikings now have 7 big ballgames left. They need to win 5 of the remaining 7 to clinch a playoff spot for the first time since 1986.
Come out and see your Vikings as they play the Dragons at Seagoville on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. and Friday versus the Bulldogs of North Dallas at Mercy Street Field.
