UPIKE Bears Men's Bowling have nice showing at the Buckeye Baker Classic

Columbus, Ohio......The UPIKE Bears Men's Bowling team competed this past weekend in the 2012 Buckeye Baker Classic, held at HP Lanes. The Varsity team qualified 6th with a pin total, of 7622, for 40 games, a 191.00 Average. With the top 8 teams advancing to the bracket championship round, the Bears were faced off against Notre Dame College. The Bears were defeated 2 games to 1. Team members were Lucas Hohnstein, John Bartosiewicz Jr., Fidel Marchena, Derek Perkins, Kyle McInerney, and Casey Castle. There were 16 Varsity Men's team in the event.
The Bears had 2 JV teams in the event. The JV "B" led the JV field for 40 games with a pin total, of 7739, a 193 average per game. The Bears advanced to the JV Championship Round Bracket and bowled Wright State University in Match one defeating them 2 games to 1. In the championship match, the bears took care of Saginaw Valley State University 2 games to 0, to win the JV Tournament. Team members were Josh Adams, Cory Cotterman, Francsisco Gamero, Robert Gilliam, and Rodrick Taylor.
The Bears JV "C" team finished 6th. There were 12 JV teams in the event.
The Bears will be back on the lanes, February 12th when they travel to Lexington, KY to compete in the 2012 Thomas N. Burris Kentucky Collegiate Classic.
