Rockets earn no-hit win over Hillside

Just when it appeared the Person baseball team had shored up its defense, the Rockets reverted back to the error-plagued ways of the season's first two games Wednesday night at Chapel Hill. Costly misplays in the field by Person(six infield errors in all), a 13 hit attack by Chapel Hill, and a strong pitching performance by an under-the-weather Tuc Fisher equaled a convincing 9-2 victory for the Tigers in the PAC-6 opener for both teams. In Fridays action; Three Rocket pitchers combined on a no-hitter in Person's 13-3 five-inning, mercy-rule victory over the Hillside Hornets in PAC-6 action Friday night at Rocket Park. Brandon Napier got the win (his second of the season), going three innings and striking out four, and Nate McBroom and Christian Dickens each tossed one inning of hitless relief. "Their runs came on a couple of errors, a groundout, and a couple of stolen bases," said Person head coach Steve Evans. "I'm always happy to get a win in the PAC-6. You've got to win the games you're supposed to win and the kids gave a good effort tonight." The Rockets are now 3-3 overall and 1-1 in the conference.
