Home » Football NewsPHS FootballAugust 3, 2011 Person High SchoolOne message second-year Person football coach Lou Geary is looking to impart to his players this season is the importance of endurance and being better conditioned than the opponent, especially in the late stages of games. Official practice for the 2011 season began last Saturday in 100-plus degree heat and is continuing through this week. Geary said finishing strong is an area the team struggled with last year, and one main emphasis during this week's practices with no contact and pads is to focus on conditioning. "It's part of our fourth-quarter pride program, to be strong at the end of games. I think that might have been one of our biggest weaknesses last year,"he said. It's about being able to finish and keep battling in the fourth quarter. When players get tired they tend to make mistakes. I think that's what happened to us in the Jordan game last year. If we don't work on our conditioning now, it will hurt us later in the season." To read the full story see Greg Phipps article in Wed. Aug. 3th. The Courier=Times
