Home » Boys' Basketball NewsKey fourth-quarter run secures Rocket VictoryDecember 11, 2010 Person High SchoolThe Person Rocket boys did something they weren't able to do all of last season Friday night at Rocket Gymnasium. They won a PAC-6 conference game and accomplished it against former longtime Rocket head coach Ronnie Russell and his Northern Durham Knights, 68-58 in the league opener for both teams. For a while, it looked as if the Rockets, now 6-0 overall and 1-0 in the PAC-6, were going to cruise to an easy win on Friday but Russell's Knights showed resiliency and clawed back in it after falling behind by as many as 16 points. Person head coach Charles Dacus, who was Russell's assistant before taking over the reigns at the start of the 2007/08 season, said his team still needs to tighten up its play late in games but was pleased to see the Rockets make that fourth-period surge stand up. The Rockets play a home endowment game against Orange tonight at 7pm and resume conference action at Southern Durham next Tuesday Dec 14. To read the full story see Dec 11.
