Five brave Perry Countians on Sunday competed in the regional “Tough Mudder,” an endurance event that covers 12 miles and consists of 21 obstacles, the proceeds of which go to the Wounded Warrior fund.
The event was held in Maysville, Kentucky, and Daren Eversole, Tyler Engle, Major Tim Cory, Brad Williams, and Michael Montgomery each completed the course, becoming members of the “Tough Mudder” brotherhood in the process.
Several thousand people took part in the two-day event. Other Perry Countians were in the event, but were not present on Sunday.
“Tough Mudder” is not a race, but a test of personal will and dedication. Each participant is bound to the pledge to help others along the course that may be struggling. The true meaning of this pledge was apparent as Brad Williams and Michael Montgomery picked up Major Tim Cory after an injury and carried him the last two miles of the course. All finished and were awarded their orange head bands.
