The Perry County Central Commodores hosted the Harlan County Black Bears on Friday. The two teams hooked up with the district title on the line.

Harlan opened the game with a long sustained drive that ended up in the end zone. The Bears added the conversion, giving them the early 8-0 lead. Perry Central would also be productive on their first possession.

The Commodores marched the ball down field, converting several third down plays along the way, concluding with a diving catch by Tyler Fugate. The play covered 14 yards. After the Dylan Wooton extra point, the Commodores trailed 8-7.

The Bears continued to run the ball strong on their next possession, and once again collected a touchdown. This time they ran the kickoff 98-yards for the score. The conversion failed, giving Harlan County the 14-7 lead.

The Commodores did not run the ensuing kickoff back, but they did get an 80-yard touchdown run by Austin Pray on the first play from scrimmage. They added the extra point to tie the score at 14.

The only two touchdowns of the second period belonged to the Bears. Harlan County got two long runs for scores, and went into the locker room sitting on a 30-14 lead.

Perry Central opened the second half with an 87-yard kickoff return from Darryl Beatty. The extra point attempt failed, setting the score at 30-20. It would be the last touchdown of the night for the Commodores.

Harlan County would tack on a pair of touchdowns and a safety down the stretch, putting the final tally at 53-20. The loss will put the Commodores on the road for the playoffs.
