Coach Michelle Pray’s Perry County Central Lady Commodores came up one game short of the state tournament last year, and will need a complete rebuild if they are going to contend for the region title this season. The Lady Commodores lost five experienced players as Jalena Couch, Sarah Dean, LeAndra Feltner, Melia Kemper and Jennifer Lewis all graduated.

Perry Central will be returning but five varsity players from last season. Last year’s all-state player Kayla Rankin will be surrounded by a host of younger players, and will have to rally the troops if the Lady Commodores are to be successful.

Coach Pray has had nearly 30 players out for summer practice, and has had to break practice into two sessions. Nearly half of the numbers will be freshmen or younger.

The Lady Commodores will play a majority of their games on the road, and should be game tough as district rolls around.
